FAQ about wedding photography

How to choose a wedding photographer?

The style and quality of work and personality are equally important in my opinion. Which are also connected: you can make a note of the personality of the photographer based on how they photograph: main emphasis on candids in portfolio - they prefer to blend with the crowd and pay attention to details, more outgoing person will stage a lot of photos, making things happen in the shoot. Both approached are valid and should take place, but what the photographer focuses more on should be in alignment with your aesthetics. Make sure to meet your wedding photographer before signing the agreement to ask all the questions and see if you actually will get along and will vibe with the person.

Quarantine photo shoot over Zoom.

Ehm, yes. New times, new inventions. A day ago a friend of mine sent me links to a photographer who does virtual sessions with models. New times we live in. But honestly, I just love the idea that even being physically limited to their homes, people still find ways to creatively express themselves. So we decided to do it and play with the idea. One video call and here is the result of our fun collaboration. It was an interesting experiment. I love to run around my models, look around, move things, direct, often not verbally. And here I am more like a witness with just suggestions to make and to talk. I think the experiment worked. What do you think?

Photoshoots as a way to embrace yourself.

We often don’t know how we look. We often don’t think we’re good enough. And, even if we don’t admit it, we are often trying to fit in with some standard of beauty. I do it all the time.

One of my friend asks me to take pictures of her every time we meet, but then she adds “when I lose some weight.” It’s been a year. We still haven’t taken any. The thing is, she doesn’t need to lose weight to feel beautiful, to feel empowered. There could have been so many photos taken during that year, photos that revealed her true nature—joyful, soulful, curious.

Engagement Photoshoot at West Village: Eitan and Yael.

Eitan reached out to me requesting to photograph his proposal to Yael. We met in a small garden by the church and decorated the X spot with rose pedals. In the mean time Yael was trying to find her way there solving various riddles he prepared for her with clues in their favorite places in the city. As soon as he saw her coming he kneeled down and very sweetly proposed. Right on cue, I jumped out of my hiding place  and a few visitors of the park joined me in congratulating them.

Engagement shoot: Sarah and Roderick.

I met Sarah through her sister whom I photographed some time ago. Sarah and her fiance Roderick came up with a few ideas for photos they wanted to have, but were very open to suggestions. It was a great experience photographing them since we had a mutual trust from the beginning. Roderick was constantly whispering encouraging sweet things to her and it resulted in some really great photos. I hope these images show their strong connection and deep love for each other and how much fun we had that day!

Love story: Vianna & JT / Married in Malaysia

Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite.

Vianna was born in England, a gift from Malaysia. She travelled the world over before one fine day she met a young man in New York City. JT told me he saw Vianna first and has not stopped thinking about her since. I was happy to share a fun filled day in the city with them before their honey moon to Sri Lanka.
